Valentine's Day, book 3 finished, Easter preparation and another guest.

Hello dear friends!

I have a lot of happy things to share with you! So... let's start!

1. I finished another book from my list. This time it was "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" by J.K.Rowling. Still in magical mood :). I am going really slowly with my list but I still hope I will manage to read all the books I have there. I also have some books in Polish waiting to be read but...

2. We had another guest in Montessori. This time we welcomed Giulia from Brazil. She told us about her country, it's culture, delicious meals, wonderful festivals and amazing nature. It was so nice to meet another great person!

3. February was the month of love. Why? Because of Valentine's Day of course! We decorated our board with hearts, learned how to express emotions in English and how to say I LOVE YOU not only in Polish.

4. I am stitching my listed things, I really do! But I am hopeless at finishing things. My owl got a little color, horse (yes it is a horse, you were right girls!) is still in the place where I abandoned it and I better not mention the rest of my stitching.

5. While I am stitching or preparing things to work I also like to watch movies or TV series. I almost don't watch polish TV series (one exception is my favorite medical series called "Through thick and thin") but I found another addictive one. The series is called "Once upon a time" and it tells the story of a woman Emma Swan who moved to town called Storybrooke where all the citizens are actually characters from various fairy tales and stories that were banished to the real world by the Evil Queen. Really addictive!

6. It won't be soon when I will come back to my abandoned needlework as there will be another big thing in my workplace. On March 23rd we will host annual Easter fair in Montessori. I am responsible for it so I am quite busy now. I am stitching eggs, making decorations from salt dough, baking cookies, decorating Styrofoam eggs, making garlands and wreaths, and much much more! Ufff... I hope to show you some of my finished work soon.

Have you got any clever ideas how to finish a cross stitched easter egg? It has to be filled with cotton wool or another soft material. This is what I have now:

And today I finally managed to write the report I have to give to my headmaster on Monday. I had a month to write it but, as always, I couldn't hunker down to do this until the last moment. And - guess what? I wrote it (6 pages) in an hour!

I am really sorry that I am so poor in posting regularly as well as commenting on your lovely blogs. I read your posts as often as I could and I am very happy to have you all my dear Friends! So please forgive me my negligence. I will try to catch up soon I promise.

With all my love

Weronika

A little bit about my work…

Hello, hello!

I know I haven’t been posting for a while but I am so busy that I have not much time for anything. Books are waiting to be read, needles and threads are waiting to be stitched into a picture and many other thing are lying somewhere abandoned. I spend a lot of my time preparing for my work with kids. My preschoolers are very demanding J. But I love my work. That’s why I really like to prepare things for them. Here are some helpers I made for them for a winter season.

1. winter animals - penguins (with a "penguin dance" song), polar bears and arctic animals

Penguins memory game

Polar bears (for counting)

Penguins with fishes (for counting and division)

Arctic animals (to make a book about animals that like cold weather)
2. During our morning routine we like to count:

Eskimo

Igloo (will every Eskimo find his home?)

And little boys in their winter clothes

3. We also learn about nature for example what animals are hatching out from an egg

Or what kind of creatures can live in a river, sea or ocean

Memory game

Pieces for a book about sea creatures

Because we have carnival we also made some great masks! The one that you can see over our board was made by all my students. They created this beautiful mask from construction paper, blotting paper and bristol board.

My students love puzzles! That’s why I am making a lot of them for our classes. We are building them together and learning words connected with the pictures on them.

We’ve learned about Groundhog Day and what does it mean when this little creature will see his shadow. We are counting by tens every day and represent those big numbers by colorful stripes of paper.

And soon we will read a story of Snow white as well as the story of “The Mitten”. In February we will also celebrate Valentine’s Day, learn more about different emotions that we can feel and exercise our mind by finding pairs of cups and hearts of the same color.

We also had a wonderful costume party! While our guests from Tajikistan and China were still with us we had a costume party for kids, parents and stuff. Our guests were wearing their national clothes. I was dressed up as Alice in Wonderland. Do I look like her?

Jafar, me and Jian

I was also gifted with my name written in Chinese :)

And this is “Montessori Preschool” written in this language. It will hang on the wall in my workplace.

And at the end a piece of stitching that I am doing now. Or I should say I’ve started and it is waiting for me to come back to it. Can you guess what it will be?

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post!

See You next time!
