Christmas and stitching.

Hello everybody!

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas this year. In my family Christmas this year are different because of my grandma illness. She was released from hospital few days before Dec 24 and she returned to her house. Unfortunately she is unable to walk or even sit by herself by now so she spends all the time in a special bed. We are taking shifts by her so she won’t be alone any minute. This gives me the opportunity to stitch a little more because at my grandma's house there is no internet connection. So I am focusing on stitching and reading most of the time.

That is how I managed to finally finish my Christmas ornaments. I told you that I am a lazy stitcher. By this time I should have done much more but half a loaf is better than none. I even try to do some beading for the first time. It was fun. Now I think I will use beads more often in my stitching.

All four Christmas animals.

Here there are separately, so you can see the details:

It is the first time when I used beads in my stitching so I only used them for finishing some of the edges. Here is some closeup:

Now I am going to plan my stitching for the next year. Maybe when I will write it down here so everybody will be able to see it, it will be easier to accomplish my plans. There will be some WIP’s that I haven’t done yet and some new projects – big and small – that I always wanted to do. I know that I probably won’t be able to do them ALL, but I will be happy if I will manage to do at least 50% of them. I also hope to get some encouragement from you friends.

New challenges for 2015 – signing for SAL’s

Hello Friends!

As I am addicted to cross stitch (but I find it really difficult to end some of my started projects) I decided to join some SAL (stitch a long) groups.  The idea is to start a new project each month of the year and finish it by the end of the year.

So from the beginning of 2015 I will join 2 SAL’s. First one started by Alyssa from This one is focused on stitch 12 flowers – each for one month of the year – from “Flower of the month” charts by EMS Designs. Second one is started by Heather from This one is focused on stitch 12 small project, again – one every month. You can read more about it on their blogs.

As I am a lazy stitcher and I often abandon my projects for a long time that will be a big challenge for me. I will have to organize and move myself. I hope that taking part in SAL’s will help me with that. Maybe this will minimize the stack of started cross stitch project that are lying in my room waiting to be ended at last. I will also start some projects that I always wanted to do but never had time, energy or motivation to do that.

Four of my Christmas ornaments are stitched already (sadly only four of them, there is much more waiting in the queue), but they have to be sew together and stuff to become proper ornaments. I will post some pictures of them later.  I hope they will some new pieces soon.

Have a good week everyone! See you soon!

Lazy stitcher

Hello Friends!

Lastly I am a very lazy stitcher. There are so many things to do that there is not much time left for stitching. I planned that at the beginning of December I will already have 5 or 6 ornaments done and prepared to be hang on a Christmas tree. But my constant changes in the duty roster at my workplace completely changed my plans.

So there is not much progress to show, but let me post here a few photos. There will be at least 4 more. And of course they all will be sew into proper Christmas ornaments. So that’s how my work looks like now:

First from the set of 4 winter animals.

Because I planned to do some more Christmas stitching and I found a beautiful pattern for a Christmas candlestick ( just need to find a proper glass and stitch a pattern on a proper piece of fabric) I’ve also done some shopping. So here are my first metallic DMC flosses. I’ve never used metallic floss before and I hope the effect will be worth the cost of it. And to make a difference this time I decided to buy green and red fabric instead of white. I hope to show you something made from this soon.
My first metallic DMC flosses.

And the rest of the purchase.
And the only question is: why does this cross stitch stuff have to be so expensive?

I took part in a Christmas card exchange. Shirlee from start a great idea of exchanging Christmas cards from different places. It is such a nice idea especially because sending traditional Christmas cards seems to be abandoned and replace by emails and text messages. I’ve already prepared some beautiful Christmas cards and I will send them tomorrow. I hope Shirlee will like them. I really like the idea of such exchanges. I would like to take part in some more of them. Maybe I will start one by myself? Would you like to take part in some nice Christmas themed exchange?

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time!

Some bad news and a package.

Hello Friends,

As I planned I collected my mail from post office this afternoon. What a pleasure to enjoy all the beautiful colors of my new pile of thread! I love buying some cross stitch supplies. Aren’t those flosses great? Yes, I know that I may sound like a completely freak but I really enjoy such a small treats in my life. My collection of Ariadna contains 220 skeins now :) .

My new set of embroidery floss.
These types of small treats are especially important when something bad happens in our life. And since Saturday bad news I am looking for the smallest enjoyments. On Saturday late evening my Grandma has a stroke and since that day she is in a hospital. She’ s got troubles with the right side of her body (it’s partially paralyzed), speaking and she can’t do anything on her own – she is lying in the hospital bed and has troubles even with swallowing. Doctors says that it is a good news that it isn’t worse than it was when they took her to the hospital and that means that she is stable now, but the next days will show if there is any improvement in her health. So please pray for her so she could be better soon.

My Granny 24 Dec. 2010
And that is not much progress in my Chrstmas ornaments stitching. I know it’s terribly slow, but I hope to show you more next time. I planned to have at least three of them done by Friday and much more by Chrstmas Eve.

First ornament this year -WIP (work in progress).

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time!

Cross Stitching - my time with needle and thread. Part 1.

As cross stitching is my little obsession it will have a special place on this blog. So be prepared for lots of posts about my ups and downs with my cross stitch projects.

My first cross stitch set comes to me from Ukraine with my aunt who visited us some time ago. At first I just placed it somewhere in my room but after some time I decided that I would like to try to take a needle and make some crosses. The first work wasn’t good so I started looking for some stitching tips in the internet. After I’ve read a few blogs, found some step by step instructions I was finally ready to really enjoy cross stitching. Since then I can’t live without it!

My Ukrainian cross stitch sets.

I’ve got a really big pile of cross stitch charts that I would like to stitch. There are also many started projects that need to be completed. There are mostly some big projects. I have a really big problem with big projects as I sometimes can’t start them again after I make a break in stitching. And so my “lost bouquet” and “Harry Potter crest” are still abandon and they lie on the shelf with the rest of my cross stitch accessories and embroidery floss.

The lost bouquet - 15 Nov. 2014
The lost bouquet - once it will look like this....

Harry Potter Crest - 15 Nov. 2014, almost done, two more colors are missing.
Even if I already have some nice collection of embroidery floss I really like to buy some new stuff. I like to step to a shop to buy some nice color of floss or another piece of fabric. Beads, ribbons, buttons and other goods are welcome as well. Now a new portion of embroidery floss is waiting for me in a post office. I will collect it tomorrow. I can’t wait to finally have it home and enjoy all the 119 skeins of Ariadna floss.

The sorted part of my collection of floss.

And a part that need to be sorted...
As I am already in a Christmas mood (can’t wait to decorate my Christmas tree and do all the preparations) I decided to do some Christmas cross stitch. I dust off my last year cross stitch with a Christmas tree and start some new ones. First one is a Christmas alphabet – a grid with some Christmas pictures one for every letter of the alphabet. The second Christmas project that I will love to do is a set of Christmas ornaments that I would like to place on my Christmas tree this year. I’ve already found the patterns now it’s time to stitching. I should start it now if I would like to make it till Christmas Eve.
My first Christmas cross stitch this year.
And the Christmas tree (Dec. 2013).

And as my love to cross stitch grows and with every new blog I’ve read I also discovered things that can be beautifully cross stitched. So, one of my favorites are pincushions. Sometimes I use them as pendants or just a part of seasoning decorations. Some of them are giving away as gifts for my friends but my collection is still growing.

I love these owls...

The one with squares was the first pincushion I've ever done.

Halloween decorations.
Valentine pincushion.
Roses pincushion.

I know that my skills in cross stitching aren’t very impressive compared to the work of other stitchers. I really enjoy following blogs of other people who share this passion with me and look at their gorgeous work. I am learning from them and I hope that I will be better in better in stitching.
So be prepared to next cross stitch themed entries because there will be many of them I suppose. I hope that next time I will be able to show you my progress in my Christmas stitching and that you will enjoy my work.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time!

My little obsessions that makes life easier.

There are some little things in our lives that help us go easier from day to day. Some may call it hobbies, passion but I think sometimes they turn into some kind of obsession. But the good one.
So, as many other people, I also have a few little obsessions that help me stay sane during all the things that everyday life brings. Things that help me relax calm down or even that take me somewhere else, even just for a moment, to break away from all the problems of reality.

BOOKS I just love reading! I haven’t got my favorite genre: thrillers, crimes, romances, biographies… Anything that will catch my eye with an interesting title. The list of my favorite titles and authors is very long. I like going back to some of them and sometimes I can read them again and again even if I know the entire plot and how it all ends. Maybe it sound silly, to read a book that you know so well, but when it can take you to such a beautiful places, if it gives you so much happiness, joy, peace and relax its surely worth it. During my school years reading books in English was a really good way to improve my language skills. Even if, in the beginning, it was very hard to go through English texts I tried and tried and now it gives me o lot of fun. One of my first “big” books in English was 7th book from “Harry Potter” series. And I must say that it was one of the most expensive books I ever bought – but the effort and cost was really worth it!

MUSIC There is a polish proverb that says: “music mitigates mores” (muzyka Ĺ‚agodzi obyczaje). There is something true about that. I am not a musician, I’ve never attend any music school, I don’t play on any instrument but I love music. When I come back home from work I just turn on my favorite music and even the worst day becomes better. During my high school music helped me learn and prepare myself to my final exams. Also during the 5 years of University music helps me learn or write my thesis. It accompanies me when I am going to my French classes, when I am traveling, when I am stitching… There is something magical in music. It surrounds you, fills you, permeates your body, mind and soul. In a long time I am in love with French music. After I’ve discovered Garou, Celine Dion, French musicals like “Le Petit Prince” or “Notre Dame de Paris” I became a big fan of French music and language, so I decided that I would like to learn this beautiful language.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES In Poland it is very common to learn foreign language. Children starts learning their first foreign language in preschool and it’s mostly English. During our school years, through University, we should learn at least two foreign languages. In Poland the most common I think are English, German, French and Italian . But more “exotic” languages have their fans too. Some time ago I was learning German (unfortunately it was too short to be fluent in it). Now I focused on improving my English, learning French and Ukrainian – as I have a lot of family in Ukraine.

CROSS STITCHING My obsession with cross stitching starts after my aunt, who is originally from Ukraine, visited us for the first time. She bring us some souvenirs from Ukraine and among them she bring me some cross stitch sets with fabric, strands, needle and a cross stitch pattern. After I tried it for the first time I couldn’t stop! It’s so addictive!!! Now I can’t imagine my day without at least a little bit of cross stitching. I am reading blogs written by people who share the same passion, I am looking for new patterns, fabrics, strands and all that is necessary to spend time with a needle and thread. Doesn’t matter the pattern, the size. I am stitching decorations, pincushions, pendants, pictures….. anything big or small. And I love it:)!
Among other things that makes my life easier I may list: horse riding, swimming, long walks, dancing, spending time with my friends, working with kids, learning new things, meeting new people and cultures and many many others.
Maybe soon I will be able to join something new to this list… (I will see how things will go tomorrow).

Have a good evening.

Hello Everybody!

I’m Weronika and I am from Poland. Some time ago I started reading blogs connected witch cross stitching. Since then I was thinking about having my own blog. It took me a lot of time but finally –

I want to share my life, passions, good and bad days with you. I hope you will enjoy it.

My mother tongue is polish so forgive me my mistakes as I planned to write this blog in English. I am learning this wonderful language since I was 6, so it’s quite a long time. Now, besides my tutorials with my young student, I haven’t got many opportunities to use English, so this is some way to stay in touch with it. And, as learning languages is one of my passion and I find it really interesting, I added two more languages to my life: French and Ukrainian. If there will be anybody who knows them and speak them well I will be really glad for any help :) .

This year I graduated from university as a master of pedagogy. And since August 2014 I am working in Montessori kindergarten in Poland.

Among many things I like there are some that I cannot live without. So you will surely quickly find out that I am completely obsessed with books, music and cross stitching. I hope to share my passions with you and that we could find some common interests.

Until next time….
